I AM UNABLE TO TAKE ON ANY NEW CLIENTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2024
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy for adults and adolescents. I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, and have received clinical training at community mental health centers, youth and family counseling agencies, and university counseling centers. I have experience working with a wide variety of populations and mental health issues, and am first and foremost a client-centered therapist. This means that, no matter who you are and no matter what you seek help with, my goal is to engage you with empathy, warmth, and understanding. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, and integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches into my work with clients.
Therapy always takes on different forms for different people, but my general philosophy on psychotherapy is as follows:
While therapy typically involves meeting with me once per week, it is an ongoing process that also occurs outside the confines of weekly sessions. It is a process by which you make a commitment to become more reflective and introspective regarding your internal experience. It is a commitment to be honest with your therapist and honest with yourself, and to eventually become more honest with others. As you become more deliberate in thinking about your experience, the little automatic, covert decisions you make on a daily basis become more overt, and it becomes easier to make conscious decisions about how to react and make choices.
My role as your therapist is to facilitate this process. It is to provide a space for you to feel safe to share thoughts and feelings you may have never shared with anyone. It is to provide a relationship in which you can say anything and express any feelings without fear of judgment. And it is to provide feedback and possibly challenge you at times. Through this ongoing process and therapeutic relationship, you become better able to live the life that you desire.
